This bear pretty much represents how I feel about Xmas. I always refer to this holiday as Xmas, because I’m kind of hoping it will get Xed out soon.

I was told I Had to get gifts for people. All I have are some cards and a gift for my secret Santa. I don’t like this feeling that I Have to do it. This whole holiday is a marketing campaign covered in Mumbo Jumbo. It does wonders for the economy, but it causes so much stress. People will argue that it’s an excuse to get together and enjoy family and friends. I would counter that Thanksgiving does just that, without the religious overtones, and there’s not forced reciprocity demanding I spend the little money I have in exchange for gifts I most likely don’t want.

Do I feel bad about getting gifts and giving cards? Yes, but do I even have a choice? I can’t refuse their gifts, or they’d be angry at me. So this big fat sad Santa bear is my Xmas mascot! Maybe when I’m rich I can pass him off to some other poor bastard.
