\nThe acting was great, the story was great. I found the accents and style to be authentic; I was left with the taste of the south and cowboy in my mouth… :\/ The way the first sex scene occurred was unrealistic to me, but other than that I was happy with the story line. I thought about homosexuality amongst any given population, and came to the conclusion that it must have happened in every society, so the argument, ” There were no gay cowboys” seems to be more of a macho hope than a reality.<\/p>\n
I am left with 3 questions. DON’T READ IF YOU HAVEN’T SEEN THE MOVIE!!! SPOILER ALERT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!<\/strong><\/p>\n 1) Did the bearded husband of the talkative wife proposition Jack when he offered to go to the ranch with him?<\/p>\n To answer my own questions after discussion with people: YES.<\/em><\/p>\n 2) Was the talkative wife the one that Jack was having an affair with?<\/p>\n No, when he said the foreman’s wife, he meant the bearded foreman.<\/em><\/p>\n 3) Was Jack murdered because he was found to be gay, or because he was found to be cheating?<\/p>\n Well it turns out that he might not have been murdered at all. The STORY ( go to this site to read the story: http:\/\/www.angelfire.com\/psy\/kittythehitwoman\/Brokeback_Mountain_by_Annie_Proulx.doc) itself is even more ambiguous than the movie. The cause of Jack’s death is left vague. Personally I think he was murdered, but there’s the implication that the murder sequence (which doesn’t exist in the story) is simple Ennis’ fears visualizing.
