OCTGN, Zelda, Mahjongg and More February 2, 2006
Posted by AkumAPRIME in : Games,OCTGN , add a commentThe Octgn tournament is off to a good start. I’m 1-1, so all hope is not lost.
Nintendo looks to be well on its way with the next Zelda game. Video HERE. Does it look like Link has become a werewolf? Sweet. And who’s the falconer? I’ve put down my videogame fury for a while, but Zelda and Final Fantasy demand great justice!
Chaotica and Reina are almost done patching Card Clash for OCTGN, which I will host for them. Look for that soon. I have Almost finished Mahjongg for OCTGN, but I can’t figure out how to get players to draw from one deck. Apparently it’s difficult now… I guess when OCTGN 2.0 comes out, it will be easier.
Good news and really, REALLY bad news
Posted by AkumAPRIME in : Life,News , add a commentThe good news: After hearing that I wouldn’t be graduating, I found out that a programming error occurred, and that I am now cleared for graduation. I expect my diploma will be sent out shortly.
The REALLY bad new: The American government is screwed, and so are its people. It’s going to take a bloody revolution to get the corrupt government out of office, but my people are too lazy/ignorant to do such a thing. Americans have been fattened up and dumbened down (funny huh?) to the point where a corrupt and thieving coalition such as the Bush mafia can sweep their rights out from under them. When things like This occurs, over and over again, what we call a “pattern” develops. The Bush admin has developed a “pattern” of arresting or shunning people that don’t pucker up to their bullshit. Similarly, when faced with a demand for something like an open debate, the Bushicrats line their audience with allies in such a way as to basically spit in all of our faces. The Bush administration lies and hides information in such a way as to obstruct justice. They manipulate the media to further their own agenda, and have Admitted to actively using propaganda.
Also: I am inundated with information. Being on the internet, I am exposed to myriad conspiracy theories and I read them, evaluate them and ignore them… but recently I have come to accept that there is something sinister about 9/11. THIS article and THIS movie finally convinced me. I found this article which refutes EVERY point in that movie except for One interesting thing. It states that the WTC7 building evidence was burned, but we have Video of the owner saying it was Demo’d… hmmm… That’s a strange inconsistancy… The new Conspiracy me says. “‘they’ didn’t get their stories straight.”
What?

Child porn laws, coke can fires and face transplants. OR( Digg, Reddit and Slashdot) January 29, 2006
Posted by AkumAPRIME in : News , add a commentThe internet is my favorite source of news. It tends to be eclectic, liberal (but not annoyingly so) and very “anti-TV media.” It is instant, read what I want, save it for later, share with a friend, save paper, catered to me News. And my favorite three sources are Digg, Reddit and Slashdot. The best way to get news is to add their RSS feeds to an RSS viewer, such as Thunderbird
Digg was not the first of these sites, but has quickly become popular. Anyone can add a news story, and once added, others vote (digg it) if they like it. The front page is littered with the most popular stories. For example, this article about Face Transplants is interesting.
Reddit is nice because it links directly to articles, without what can often be inane, if not humorous, comments. This article on starting a fire with a soda can and chocolate is great.
Slashdot is more tech based nerdy news, but seems to have a higher quality audience. The comments here tend to be far more illuminating and witty, but the news is moderated by… moderators, so it’s not as “free” as Digg. This article about a court ruling on child porn isn’t techy, but interesting.
In regards to this last article, while I can understand that we want to throw the book at child pornography consumers, as they fuel the industry, there has to be a higher penalty for the actual creation of child porn than for the distributors or copiers. Calling copying creating is inaccurate and will lead to all kinds of semantic problems in our overly wordy legislative system. Not to mention that now instead of just copying child porn, you might as well make it, since the penalty is the same.
Hong Bao
Posted by AkumAPRIME in : Life , 1 comment so far“Gong shih fah tsai. Hong bao na lai.” This phrase literally means, “Congratulations on being rich. Bring me hong bao(the red envelopes).” It translates to, I hope you get rich, give me money. Kids tell this to adults, who give them money filled hong bao.
Today is the Chinese new year, which begins the year of the dog. According to tradition, all dogs(those born in 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994) will have Bad luck this year, so watch out!
I spent the day with my friend Joyce’s family, travelling to An Ping, eating good food, and playing cards.

Posted by AkumAPRIME in : Life , 2 commentsWe had 2 teachers and a TA for 14 students… ridiculous. But a good group of kids, ages 11 to 14. 7 boys, 7 girls, 1 no show.
And I don’t ALWAYS make funny faces Grandma!
A week in… January 21, 2006
Posted by AkumAPRIME in : Life , 2 commentsI’m sitting in the office where I will be staying for the next week, waiting for my friends to come over. I just read THIS great article (you should too) and decided to give you an update. I will be teaching 11-14 year olds this next week. At which point Chinese New Year will occur. Disappointingly, Chinese New Year is a more family oriented event here in Taiwan, like our Xmas eve. I’m tempted to split to Hong Kong where CNY is a lil’ more exciting, but I probly’ won’t. Today we will go to An Ping, famous for its delicious food.
You do know I post PICTURES all the time right?
Memoirs of a Geisha January 17, 2006
Posted by AkumAPRIME in : Movies , 2 commentsGood movie, it got me into it. I didn’t read the book first so I am unable to complain about minor inconsistancies. The 3 main actresses were good, and I felt emotionally involved with the character. It could have been cut about 15 minutes short, but other than that, I give it an A.
While the movie was good, it didn’t do a good job of convincing me that geisha are anything more than fancy shmancy whores. There was an implication that they were honorable or sth… a whore is a whore…
Triforce burn January 15, 2006
Posted by AkumAPRIME in : Uncategorized , 3 commentsAfter getting the sauna to about… 150, I accidentally rubbed up against a lamp. The result is this nasty thing, but it left a cool triangular burn!
